Outbound 1804 – Red Frogs @ Schoolies

In Australia, schoolies is the infamous phenomenon that occurs when high school finishers head to a particular destination (typically the beach) to blow off some steam after an intense year of studies. However, at schoolies the youth, aged 17 – 19 can get quite out of hand, when alcohol, drugs and sex are rife. The Red Frog Crew plays a major support role during Schoolies Week by providing free shuttle buses, free BBQ’s and on-call pancake teams, a very popular Chill Out Zone in the heart of the town that is a great hang out for schoolies whilst they are given free hot drinks and food. The Red Frog Crew are warmly welcomed by other support services and a fantastic atmosphere exists amongst the team.

We are looking for a maximum of 12 students to contribute their time and skills in a number of different roles:

HOTEL CHAPLAINS
Hotel Chaplains are the core of our Schoolies Week response. Each team of 4-5 members is responsible for a building, area or hotel 24/7. This is your opportunity to connect with Schoolies by being available to them in their hotels or on the streets. Each team has an experienced team leader as well as a strong network of pastoral carers and location leaders, ensuring each member is valued and supported throughout and after the event.

RED FROG CALL CENTRE CREW
The Red Frog call centre controls Red Frog movements across Australia, receiving extremely high volume of calls for anything from random acts of pancakes to more serious issues requiring immediate response. Call centre members are rostered on day, afternoon and night shifts and are part of a dynamic team who direct the movements of hotel chaplains, allowing them to have maximum impact in supporting Schoolies.

SUPPORT CREW
Enabling Red Frogs to operate effectively during schoolies week requires a huge amount of resources constantly being set up and moved. If you are a behind the scenes kind of person (have an available van or ute), like lifting and helping in setting-up for events or even providing VIP tours, then this is a role for you.

CREATIVE CREW
Whether you are handy with a camera, have a director’s cap or just love telling a great story – we need you. All over the country Red Frog teams put themselves on the front line of the biggest party of the year. As a RF Creative, we get the privilege of capturing the incredible behind-the-scenes moments and stories as our crew “safeguard a generation” – if this is you, we would love for you to join the Creative Team.

Cost

$300 registration fee (or early bird rate of $250) which pays for uniform, meals and accommodation at Lorne.

Notes

• As we will organise a Red Frogs team from MST, your initial interest should be registered with MST prior to applying online.

• Once the team is selected, you will apply individually online at http://au.redfrogs.com/schoolies/ima- volunteer.

• You must hold a Working with Children Check card that covers the period we will be in Lorne.

• You must provide a comprehensive pastoral reference from your church.

• Once registered, you are required to attend a compulsory training session at either:
o Peninsula City Church – 31st of October, 7 PM
o Mitcham Baptist – 8th of October, 7 PM (TBC)
