AUGUST 2017 Paradosis Lecture - Ethics for Today

Prof. Steve Walton

“Deciding about deciding: Early Christian communal decision-making in Acts”

Melbourne School of Theology was blessed to have Professor Steve Walton give a special talk on Monday, 7 August on the decision making processes in the early church. Steve used a number of examples from the Book of Acts to show how the earliest Christians made significant decisions affecting the Church. Steve shared the communal nature of the decision making process, rather than a a select group deciding on behalf of the whole group. Interestingly, Acts is one of the few places in the New Testament where we get a window into how the early believers made decisions, and it has fascinating implications for churches we gather in today.
