Introduction

This subject allows students to undertake an in depth study of the Fourth Gospel. The subject includes an introduction to the history of the interpretation of this gospel during the past 150 years, allows students to develop their exegetical skills by detailed work on the text of the gospel, and explores in depth a number of its major theological themes, including eternal life, witness, the Holy Spirit, sacramentalism, and metaphors of the church.

Prerequisites and Exclusions

Pre-requisites: OT301/501 and OT302/502 and OT303/503

Time Commitment

The Fourth Gospel will require a time commitment on behalf of the student. If you are studying online you will need to commit to approximately 10 hours per week. If you are studying on campus you will need to commit to 3 hours of lecture time and approximately 7 hours private study per week.
