How to Apply

Introduction

If you are serving in any form of Christian ministry, this might be an excellent opportunity to broaden your knowledge and gain skills in the theological foundations of mental health, well-being and flourishing. Whether you are a pastor, youth worker, chaplain, teacher, counsellor/psychologist, or cross-cultural worker, this course will equip and enhance your ability to minister to people under your care and those you engage with in the community in the vital area of pastoral care and mental health.

Duration: 2 years part time.

Structure

The Graduate Certificate of Pastoral Care for Mental Health requires the satisfactory completion of 4 units totalling 48 credit points.

 

Complete the following 3 units:

  • Theological Perspectives on Mental Health PC137-812
  • Theological Approaches to Wellbeing PC136-812
  • Mental Health Issues in Christian Counselling IN004-812

 

Complete 1 of the following units:

  • Pastoral Care PC002-812
  • Theology for Everyday Life PC121-812
  • Pastoral & Church Focussed Ministry Seminar PC204-812
  • Pastoral Care Field Education PC093-812
  • Pastoral & Church-Focused Ministry Project PC200-812

Entry Requirments

Academic Qualifications

 

  • Successful completion of a 3-year bachelor degree from any field or equivalent.

 

Language Qualifications for NESB

 

  • Equivalent to IELTS 7.0 overall with a minimum of 7.0 in reading and writing, and 6.5 in listening and speaking OR 10 years in Australia with English being the language primarily spoken both at home and work.

FEE-HELP
  • FEE-HELP is available for all ACT courses for Australian Citizens and those holding special Visas.*
  • Enrolled students need to apply for FEE-HELP by the Census Date of their first semester of enrolment.
  • Continuing to receive FEE-HELP is dependant upon the student’s academic progress. A student must pass 50% of their units each semester to continue receiving FEE-HELP.*Some conditions apply – see studyassist.gov.au for more information.
