Meet Peter
During his PhD program, Peter Riddell conducted field research in Indonesia and studied Qur’anic Exegesis at EPHE/Sorbonne in Paris. He subsequently held a post-doctoral fellowship at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Peter has lectured at the Australian National University, the Institut Pertanian Bogor (Indonesia), SOAS University of London and the London School of Theology, where he served as Professor of Islamic Studies. He was invited as Visiting Professor at L’Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes/Sorbonne (Paris) in May/June, 2015.
He has published widely on Southeast Asia, Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations. Apart from his own books, he has been contributing editor for 12 other volumes.
Peter is a keen musician, and has played guitar and bass in bands for many years, including playing lead guitar in the Hertfordshire Guitar Orchestra (UK) in concerts at various locations in England and Germany.
