In this unit candidates learn to appreciate 1, 2, 3 John as a resource for pastoral ministry; develop responsible ways of using the text of 1, 2, 3 John in pastoral ministry; recognise the contribution of recent scholarly work to an understanding of 1, 2, 3 John for use in pastoral ministry; and rethink the connections between tradition and the Spirit, the bases of Christian assurance, and the boundaries of love in the Christian community.

Graduate level qualifications in an approved theological field.
