Area of Study
My MPhil and PhD dissertations focused upon the theology of ministry, including the themes of apostleship, servanthood, and the Spirit in the teaching of Jesus, and in the writings of Paul also suffering, the charismata, the body metaphor, and the involvement of the risen Christ.
Within Pauline theology, I have had a special focus upon the role of the Mosaic Law and justification, noting the objections of Jewish scholars to the way Protestant exegesis in the past proceeded upon the assumption that Judaism was essentially legalistic, and more recently upon the influence of the ‘new perspective’ on Paul, in particular its influence in the works of E. P. Sanders, J. D. G. Dunn and N. T. Wright. My work was carried out inductively by an examination of the relevant passages in the Pauline Letters considering their individual provenances, before drawing comprehensive conclusions.
In addition, I have spent much time researching and writing commentaries on Paul’s Second Letter to the Corinthians, his Letter to the Romans, and on the Gospel and Letters of John.
