Unit Code: EM015-612
Pre or Co-requisites: No
Recently some of our students visited a Mosque and found themselves in a long conversation with an Afghani man. He was surprised at the MST student’s strong belief in God and their values that were in contrast with a secular Western worldview. He had lived in Australia for more than twenty years yet reflected at the end of the conversation that this was the first time he had talked with real Christians.
Islam is the second largest faith in the world and most of those who haven’t properly encountered the Christian gospel are Muslims. You don’t have to travel far – Australia is a home for more than half a million Muslims, reaching a point where many Christians have Muslim friends, work, study or playmates. Muslims are usually much more open to talk about God than secular Westerners, yet many of them never meet a real Christian.
The unit Christian Ministry in Islamic Settings is designed to provide believers with a rich understanding of Islamic belief and practices as well as the practical tools needed to share life with Muslim communities and Christ with Muslims. This unit is taught by Dr. Denis Savelyev.
