Ian Packer

Dean of Studies, Lecturer

Ribbon

Ian Packer

Ian holds to a generous Evangelical orthodoxy, and is interested in open, critical engagement with the breadth of Christian tradition. His areas of teaching, writing, and research interest have been in areas of ‘theology and…’: that is, the connections between theology and ethics, other disciplines, integral or wholistic mission, and ‘whole of life discipleship’ including faith and work. He is interested in Christian contributions to the ‘marketplace of ideas’ and public square. He was previously an ethicist and public theologian for Australian Evangelical Alliance and then Assistant Director of Ethos—EA Centre for Christianity and Society; Academic Registrar and Lecturer with Morling College in Sydney; and Executive Assistant to the Dean of the Australian College of Theology. Ian is an accredited Baptist minister and has pastored in interdenominational and Baptist churches in NSW and WA.
