Unit Code: CH005-512
Pre or Co-requisites:
The first few centuries of the history of the Christian church witnessed the establishment of all the key areas of Christian doctrine and practice and saw Christian communities established across western Asia, Europe and northern Africa. This unit traces the church’s establishment and growth within Greco-Roman cultures, languages and the Roman imperial structure. It survived official and popular persecution and defended its right to exist. It contended for unity against a tendency to splinter and fought for a viable and faithful theology of Christ, the Trinity and the church. This unit covers church history through the Council of Chalcedon (AD 451).
