Unit Code: EM051-612
Pre or Co-requisites: None
In this unit, you will analyse the Hadith (the traditions of Muhammad) from a Christian perspective. Muslim scholars describe them as Islam’s second most important documents, after the Qur’an.
It will answer the questions: Where did Islam come from? What does it teach about Allah? What kind of person was Muhammad? Is Islam peaceful or violent? Does Islam liberate or oppress women? How does Islam view other religions?
This unit will examine the background to the Hadith, examine some of the common themes and topics in the Hadith and investigate scholarly issues regarding the Hadith.
Unit availabilities are subject to change. Please contact the enrolments team at enrolments@mst.edu.au for further information.
