Rev Dr Michael Bräutigam
Director of Research, Lecturer in Theology, Psychology, and Church History, Director of Centre for Theology & Psychology
Michael joined the faculty of Melbourne School of Theology in 2015. Prior to this he served as tutor at the University of Edinburgh and Edinburgh Theological Seminary, and he has also tutored in Psychology at the University of Trier, Germany.
Michael understands his role as a pastor-teacher, seeking to combine pastoral vision and academic excellence. He has served as a pastor in Germany (Free Evangelical Church), and as an elder in a local Edinburgh congregation of the Free Church of Scotland.
One of Michael’s goals is to make theology accessible. For this reason, he is organising our annual Paradosis conference that seeks to communicate profound theological truths in accessible ways, always with a view to equipping the church.
Michael is also interested in cross-disciplinary endeavours. One key project is the Centre for Theology and Psychology that facilitates research at the intersection of the two disciplines and offers workshops, seminars and symposia for Christian leaders.
