This unit includes a biblical introduction to ecclesiology; historical perspectives and connection with Israel; models, metaphors and marks of church; church and the kingdom of God; church governance and sacraments; contemporary perspectives on church and liturgy.
Firstly we will cover the people of God including the kingdom, the church (its nature, authority and mission), the marks of the people of God, the nature and norms of ministry and denominations.
The second section introduces the concepts of Word and sacrament, Christian initiation, The Lord’s Supper, Christian Worship and prayer. It is vital for emerging leaders in Christian ministry to understand, evaluate, and apply these central doctrines to the contemporary church and society, and this unit is specifically designed to equip you with the necessary skills and expertise.
(Units which must be completed either concurrently with or prior to enrolment into a unit)
At least 2 units of:
Old Testament (OT), New Testament (NT), or Biblical Studies (BB).
At least 1 unit of:
Theology (TH), Christianity in History (CH), or Philosophy & Ethics (PE).
